Podcasting is a way of automatically downloading free audio or video series 'episodes' to your computer. You can then listen or watch this material on your computer, or transfer it to a portable audio or video player, such as an iPod.
You subscribe to a podcast by firstly downloading and installing software such as iTunes or other podcasting software.
In typical use, you would then cut and paste the relevant podcast subscription URL into a designated screen in your podcasting software. The software then uses the information at that URL to compile a list of all the episodes in that podcast. From there, you can download the episodes that interest you. The software will also tell you when a new episode is added to the podcast.
