Fast Forward can be used as an individualised program that can run in any primary or secondary classroom in the middle years. It also allows for small group work to suit the different educational contexts within schools.

Fast Forward forms the basis of explicit and systematic instruction to ensure the development of literacy skills. Students of this program must also have extensive amounts of partner-, group- and independent-reading of instructional and independent level books to further support their literacy development while on the program.

FAST FORWARD PROGRAMS:

• Withdrawal program: Students may be withdrawn by a specialist reading teacher or support staff member. Withdrawal can be done with individuals or groups.
• Individual program: Fast Forward can be used as a fully individualised reading program. Students can work on the program autonomously during the literacy session or during normal classroom time by reading the books that relate to the theme or topic being taught.
• Classroom groups: Fast Forward can be implemented in the classroom as part of reading groups. Students may be grouped according to their reading level and participate in guided reading using books from the program.
