FOR BEGINNING READERS AND SPELLERS
Workbook 1 introduces beginner readers to early phonological awareness skills and early phonics instruction.

Workbook 1 targets:

• syllable awareness – developing studentS' awareness of the syllabic structure of words
• onset-rime awareness – developing studentS' awareness of the intra-syllabic level of words and allows students to work with rhyme
• letters and sounds of the alphabet – encompassing traditional phonics teaching of the letters ‘a’ to ‘z’ and the sounds they make. Letters are introduced in a sequence familiar to many teachers
• digraphs ‘ch’, ‘th’, ‘sh’ – the high frequency single sounds that are represented by two letter graphemes.

FOR EMERGING READERS AND SPELLERS
The first unit in Workbook 2 revisits skills to determine the student’s readiness for Workbook 2 tasks.

Workbook 2 targets:

• consonant blends at the beginning of words, including ‘s’ blends (eg: snip, spot), ‘r’ blends (eg: brown, cry) and ‘l’ blends (eg: clown, plane).
• silent ‘e’ (eg: nose, smile)
• vowels (eg: car, moon, boat, sea)
• silent letters (eg: what, knob, wrong)
• special endings (eg: ring, shell, sack)
• sight words (eg: and, it, mum, them, home, me)

FOR DEVELOPING READERS AND SPELLERS
Workbook 3 provides students with practice with the more difficult and complex written structures of the English language.

Workbook 3 targets:

• three-letter consonant blends (eg: spray, street)
• final word position consonant blends (eg: lump, lunch, fact)
• vowels (eg: stair, house, floor)
• special letter combinations (eg; bridge, night)
